I’ve kept this quiet for quite a while now, debating whether or not I should make a post. But, I figured I would. I know that I’m bound to get some hate for this, but I’m prepared for that. So, if you want to read about my experience, you can do so under the cut.

As my followers will know, I suffer from a number of illnesses, including liver disease and chronic leukemia. One of my doctors suggested that I get in touch with a charity that grants wishes for seriously ill children, like myself.
I did just that and, after filling out the application form, got a phone call to say that I was accepted for a wish. I was sent another form to fill out, this time, to choose my wish. You got to write down three, but you could only receive one. I already knew what I was going to write down for my first wish!
I applied for my wish around October last year. I really wasn’t sure if it would actually come true, because of how busy Benedict was with Star Trek and Sherlock and various other things.
But, finally, after a good seven month waiting period, I got the call to tell me that I would be meeting Benedict in London. I was so excited, as you can well imagine!
Although I live in England, I live a good four hours away from London. So me and my family took the train up to London the day before the meet and greet.
When we arrived, a car picked us up from Paddington Station and dropped us off at our very swanky hotel in Mayfair. It was gorgeous, I’ve never seen anything like it!
The next morning, I was due to meet Benedict at 10:00am. I was so nervous! I remember thinking to myself ‘what have I done, I’m just going to make a complete fool of myself’.
To my surprise, a limousine came to collect me from the hotel. This is where my legs started to shake and my mouth was so dry, I could hardly swallow!
When we arrived at our meeting place, Benedict was already there. He greeted me with a lovely smile, and shook my hand. We sat down, and honestly, just had a good old natter, like you would with a friend. I thought I would have freaked out and started stuttering or crying or something. But there was none of that! He made me feel really relaxed.
For the most part, we talked about my illnesses. What surprised me was that he already knew quite a lot about me. He said " I know you’re supposed to be asking me questions, but I’m actually really interested in you." I must have blushed throughout the whole meet and greet, but there we go. After telling him everything there was to know, he looked me straight in the eye and said, “You’re amazing, you really are." I almost died. That and I was very close to saying “No, you are!"
He then went on to say that I had a very good attitude. He said that he could sense that I was the sort of person who takes everything as it comes, and stays as positive as possible. Shortly after this, he gave me a hug and a kiss on each cheek.
We then talked a bit about Star Trek and how I went to the first available showing on release day, two days after a liver operation. At which he laughed, and said something along the lines of “Wow, you really are a fan! But you have to be careful, you’ve got a heart murmur!". Talk of series three soon followed, and he honestly didn’t tell me much more than that they were almost finished with episode two, and then they were going on a break. Of course, I said how much I loved it and how I couldn’t wait to see the next series.
After talking a bit about Third Star and what it was like to film it, I gave him the present I bought for him. It was only a bottle of locally made cider, but he seemed genuinely pleased. He said, “What?! No, no…you’re not supposed to do this!" as well as saying thank you quite a few times.
Soon after, it was time for me to leave. He told me how lovely it was to meet me, and he wished me luck with my upcoming operation. After kissing me goodbye, I left the meeting place, feeling like I was high on something! There was a part of me that was afraid he wouldn’t be as nice as he seems to be in interviews, but he was even better. He is so sweet and down to earth, as well as genuine. I wish that all of you could meet him someday, he really is wonderful.
